October 21-23, 2011: Darmstadt, Germany
During the weekend October 21st-23rd the UAA council met with the local chapter coordinators (LCC) for this year’s kickoff meeting in Darmstadt. Most of the people arrived on Friday evening and enjoyed some drinks at Roman’s place.
On Saturday we started with a warm welcome of the new council members and LCCs in our rows. Continuing with the very productive collaboration with the UTI office, David and Emma joined our meeting as well. Saturday morning was dedicated to an introduction of the UAA and UTI and updates from UTI office. During our lunch break we split up in three groups to brainstorm about the future of the UAA. We then spent Saturday afternoon introducing the LCCs to their new job and discussing the goals they set themselves for the upcoming year. Last point on Saturday’s agenda was the presentation of the UAA budget for the upcoming year. For dinner we went to a traditional German brewery and enjoyed a nice evening in the company of even more UAA members.
A highlight of the weekend was Sunday’s LCC and UTI workshop on the UNITECH promotion in which they came up with valuable input for UTI and developed a consistent process for all universities. In parallel, we established a common understanding of our collaboration within the council and distributed tasks outside our job description. Afterwards, we discussed the status of the UAA symposium and set up a timeline for the remaining tasks. In the end, we met up altogether to wrap up our meetings and collect feedback from everyone.
We are very happy with the discussions we had, the ideas we collected and especially with the results achieved during Sunday’s LCC and UTI workshop. We also managed to intensive our good relation to Emma and David and we look forward to our future collaboration.
