UNITECH Technology Brief with ABB
11 Nov 2014 in Alumni by Fabian Gasser
We are happy to report that 15 alumni joined the first UNITECH Technology Brief held in collaboration with ABB. The topic of the event was semiconductor technologies, which ABB is well-known to be a global leader for.
The participants met at Zurich main station on Monday evening 29.09.2014. After a short introduction we headed for the manufacturing plant located in Lenzburg, Aarau. To spice things up during the train ride, ABB had prepared a quiz - the winner of which would get a ride back home in a semiconductor-powered Tesla car.
Having arrived in Lenzburg, we met our fellow alumni who had made their way to the event from Liechtenstein. We got equipped with shower caps for our shoes, to ensure the cleanliness inside the building be maintained and were greeted by a senior engineer at the plant. After a short introduction to ABB, we were offered a detailed presentation about semiconductor technology and its industry. With alumni participating who work in the semiconductor area themselves, the presenter received detailed questions adding further to an exciting and interesting presentation.
After a subsequent tour through the production facilities we were welcomed also by Kristen Koch, the UNITECH corporate partner representative. We concluded the evening with a rich apéro, as well as a lottery for the Tesla car-ride home, as three alumni had scored draw on the quiz. Manuel Rippel got lucky and got home well in advance of the other participants who enjoyed a relaxed train ride back to Zurich together.
The feedback to the event was overwhelmingly positive and we would like to thank ABB once more for having us!
